thats 'Fett'astick


So I have been working rather diligently so far this week, now I'm by no means a great, or even good texture artist. But over the past while I think I have improved 100% and I am quite happy with how most of the textures have turned out for this model. I always find it funny during a period of growth, that by the time you finish you want to go back and start over because by the end everything is so much better than the stuff at the beginning. Oh well, I guess the next model with get all the love that I can give by the time Fett is done. No looking back, only forwards. Here are a few pics of the textures so far, I threw on a smooth, that way its closer to the final look.....I Hope.

Forever Forwards


Well getting closer, I did his belts and pouches today, I also touched up the torso and re did the sleeves. I think they are much better now, starting to get the hang of this whole modeling thing. One day I might take the cloth pieces into mudbox or Zbrush and get some stellar normal maps from them but I still learning how to do all that. Anyhow here he is for todays foray.

Here is a little update on my Fett, I have been redoing a few pieces that weren't up to snuff, So here is what is my current iteration, I have also added a few new pieces like his utilitybelt and the waistband, there is still more to do but so far so good, I think I might redo or at least touch up his torso and sleeves. I'm not overly happy with them right now so I think i might have another go at them. Till then. CIAO.

Modeling Test


Well took the week off from working on Fett to do a test for a company that is looking for some low poly modelers. I was given the outline of the Memphis building the Pink Palace. And from there I had only 500 Tris to build the thing. The texture could only be a 512k texture also, with a bit of refernce this is what I came out with.

Picking Up

Well things are hoprfully picking up, here are the gloves and gauntlets for Fett. They took me some time to get done but I'm getting more
confident with photoshop. I figured that I would get better just with using it but here is hopefully the proof. So now I have a few more items to begin texturing then I have a bit of zbrush work to do for the clothing and hopefully it will be a killer model. Here's hoping.

Well Its beens long time coming to get Fetts Carbine done. Its hard to really get into a groove when you get like 2-3 hours to do work in any given night, but I figure do what you can when you can and eventually it will be done. So here it is.

Jet Pack Dedication

Well like I've said b4, I'm not the best at texturing but I'm really learning alot the more I do it. Here is Fetts JetPack, there are a few touch ups I might do, there is also no bump or spec or anything yet, just the diffuse. I'm pretty happy with it so far, the more i do though I hope the better I get.

Color Vision


So Yay, I actually have been getting some work done with all the chaos and lack of sleep. By the way if for some reason there are "E's" missing its due to th fact that my laptop is getting older and the E key seems to be the one that is slowly going. Oh well. Anyways like I said I have actually been getting some work done and most of the unwrapping is done for Fett, and now I can try my hand at some texturing, Here is what I have so far and its by far the best texturing I have ever done. Hopefully it will continue in this trend and I wil have a good looking model.

Upwards and Onwards

Well its been a few weeks now and little baby Erik is doing well. It took a bit of time for me to actually be able to get some manner of work done. Man I tell ya, no one can really prep you for parenthood, its really tough, well these past few sleepless weeks have been. They are however getting better. I'm also doing another animation for the green monkey (see post below) Its coming along and I should have it done in a few days. I have also been unwrapping The Fett model and its close to being completely unwrapped. I'm sure I don't need to go to the extent that I have, but its my one (of many no doubt) failing, I tend to go into extreme detail in every aspect to try to get out the best product. Anyhow I also have a few 2D images I'm going to post once I finish them. Hopefully soon. Till then.

Baby and Boba

Well Monday August 4th saw the arrival of my first son Erik Joseph Isherwood. Wow what an experience, I can say there truly is nothing like it on earth to see your baby boy brought into this world. My wife was an incredible trooper and did wonderfully through the whole process, she made me very proud. I'm so fatigued right now as we, with the help of family and friends, fuddle our way through the first few days of life with Erik.
I have however gotten back to doing more personal stuff for later demoreel additions, here we have the Boba Fett I started I think more than a year ago, anyways I have been back at it and I still have a way to go but I started unwrapping a bit of him. There still needs some modeling work done and then probably take some of it into zbrush which I have started to teach myself. Anyways hre are a few pics of him to date.

The Great Green Monkey

Here are a few renders from a project I worked on for some guys in T.O. they are in the midst of developing an online game or something, so I took an image they liked and modeled it with some changes. Then I rigged, textured, lit, animated, and finally rendered it out for them. There is more work that needs to be done to this particular character, however for the time being it is finished. They told me that they may need more animations in the future and if they do then perhaps I will continue to upgrade the character. Right now there is nothing interms of facial poses, save one blendshape(which needs to be tweaked) and just having the jaw open and close. Anyways here he is.......

Ha,
Tried to get this going earlier today but for some reason I didn't really look at what I was typing and low and behold I messed it up so here it is again and this time it is correct. This is a work in progress blog that I will be using for more day to day process work for my demo reel and for other works that I will be working on.
